Can I have a massage if I have cancer or have just finished treatment for it?
Massage can be carried out by a specialist therapist, if recommended or agreed by your consultant. The course of treatment is based on the type of cancer and type of treatment you are undergoing.
For example, if you have been diagnosed with breast cancer, you can receive massage that can be treatment on your back, neck, shoulders and lower limb areas.
How is Oncology Massage different from regular massage?
Oncology massage is done by a trained therapist who understands the treatments and side-effects you are going through. Oncology massage can be done between cycles of chemotherapy or radiotherapy. The pressure applied is a light touch with long strokes, to make you feel relaxed and de-stressed. We understand that this is a challenging time for individuals, but Oncology Massage with our highly trained therapist can greatly help you tackle your fears, while leaving you feeling relaxed, confident and more in-control of your body.
Andreea, our highly qualified therapist has trained in Sport/Deep Tissue Massage, Manual Lymphatic Drainage, Pregnancy Massage, Myofasical Release and Oncology Massage.
She qualified in Oncology Massage in 2018 and following her training, worked in Paul Cancer Support Centre in London and Physio Clinics across London.
Based on a consultation, Andreea will know how best to combine her modalities to always offer a personalised treatment.
